Corsica – Days 5 & 6: Heat, jellyfish, surprise guests and coastal magic
The adventure continues — sweaty, unpredictable, and full of those charming little mishaps we now call “immersive experiences.”
Day 5 – Full adventure mode:
We bravely decided to reach Plage de Ghjunchitu by crossing the woods.
With the sun blazing above us and the kids loaded like little donkeys (backpacks, towels, toys, water bottles, hope…), we marched on like true explorers.
Yes, it was tough. But when we got there, the view made it all worth it.
Clear sea, soft sand… and, of course, a few jellyfish waiting to greet us — our now-regular beach buddies.
But fear not: my husband, channeling his inner superhero armed with a child’s beach bucket, managed to scoop out a few jellyfish with pride and purpose.
He looked so satisfied I wouldn’t have been surprised if someone had started humming the Avengers theme in the background.
Before heading out for our evening stroll in Île-Rousse, we had a small… encounter:
a tiny mouse in the veranda.
Cute, with shiny eyes and twitchy whiskers, but still — no thanks.
After a few minutes of not-so-graceful chaos, we managed to escort him out (no injuries, except maybe our dignity).
Luckily, Île-Rousse was magical as always: soft lights, sea breeze, ice cream… all forgiven.
Day 6 – Wind and peace:
Today the wind was too strong to go to the beach, so we surrendered (without too much resistance, honestly).
We took it slow: reading, organizing things around the house (translation: laundry, sibling arguments, and infinite snack breaks).
In the evening, we treated ourselves to a walk through the glowing streets of Calvi.
Between the golden lights and the sound of the sea, we remembered exactly why we love this island so much:
even on a beach-free day, Corsica still feels like a holiday.
Between forest hikes, jellyfish rescues, tiny rodents and postcard sunsets, Corsica keeps surprising us and somehow making it all worth it.
