The Art of Being Carefree
This morning, once again, I took my son to summer camp.
And once again, I came home with a strange feeling of lightness.
I can’t quite explain it, but every day that little world of children, counselors, music, and smiles manages to fill me with positive energy. As soon as you arrive, you’re welcomed by cheerful voices, laughter, and games that begin before parents even have time to say goodbye. There’s music playing in the background, children running around, calling out to each other, and excitedly sharing stories about what they did the day before.
It’s a beautiful kind of chaos.
The funny thing is that, as a child, I never attended summer camp myself. My mom worked, and during the summer she would leave me with my grandmother, a time I still treasure as one of the happiest memories of my childhood. And yet, every time I take my son to camp, I feel something deeply familiar come back to me: the carefree feeling of summer vacations, days without schedules, friendships that are formed in an instant, and the joy found in simple things.
Maybe that’s exactly what moves me.
In a world where we’re always rushing, summer camp feels like a little pause where the only things that matter are having fun, playing, being together, and enjoying the moment. Children still have the ability to remind us how natural happiness can be when we’re fully present.
So every morning, as I watch my son run toward his friends without looking back, I take a little piece of that energy with me. A quiet reminder that joy truly exists and that sometimes all it takes is hearing laughter in the distance to remember it. ❤️
