A volte pochissima.
Sistemare, preparare, organizzare, pensare a domani.
Random Thoughts
Okay, sometimes I feel like a bad mom.
I have so much patience at work and in everyday life, but with my children? Sometimes, very little.
And I ask myself: why?
I picked Manuel up from his grandmother’s at 4:30 p.m., and from then until now, he has basically done nothing but cry. I’m exhausted. And obviously, so is he. And then I think about how heavy it can be, sometimes, to carry all of your children’s emotional load. Being their safe place also means this: with you, they can let go, cry, vent, and be completely inconsolable. But on top of the emotional load, I also have to take on 100% of the practical load. So now that he’s finally asleep, I can’t just rest. I can’t switch off. I have to do everything that, obviously, I didn’t manage to do today. Tidy up, prepare things, organize, think about tomorrow. Because while they finally rest, we moms often start our second shift. And knowing all this doesn’t mean that I always manage to handle everything calmly. Because after a whole day, we moms get tired too. And sometimes we just want five minutes of silence, without feeling guilty for wanting it. Then maybe you raise your voice, lose your patience, and immediately afterward, you feel like the worst mom in the world. But maybe being a good mom doesn’t mean always being patient, perfect, and smiling. Maybe it also means being tired, making mistakes, apologizing, and starting again.
And today, I just needed to say it.
