Ti fidi dell’istinto?
Instinct: friend or foe?
Some say instinct never fails.
I, on the other hand, believe the opposite: following your instinct is almost never the right choice.
Not because instinct is always wrong, but because it often comes from emotions that are too fresh, too strong, too confused. Instinct is that voice pushing you to react immediately, to say what you feel in the moment, to take a step that “seems” right… but that, seen from a distance, you might not take again.
Instinct is fast.
Clarity is wise.
With time, I’ve learned it’s better to pause, breathe, and let things settle. Because when you wait—sometimes hours, sometimes days—what felt urgent stops being urgent, what felt huge shrinks, and what felt right… often isn’t right anymore.
And I say this from experience: I’m a very instinctive person.
I act, speak, decide driven by that initial spark that always feels too “right” to ignore. But looking back honestly, that spark has caused me more trouble than solutions. That’s why I’m trying to change this side of myself: still listening, yes… but with more calm, more distance, more thought.
In the end, maybe growing up is exactly this: learning that instinct speaks, but doesn’t always deserve the final word.
